Amity School District Local Wellness Policy Progress Report
Amity School District and its member schools follow the precepts of the Local Wellness Policy with minor exceptions in the following areas:
- The Head Cook will track training topics, dates, and times for food service personnel. The use of the USDA Professional Standards Tracker is encouraged.
- The ES will encourage parents to send snacks that follow Smart Snack guidelines.
When compared to a model policy provided by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the Amity School District Local Wellness Policy includes all required sections and adheres to the guidelines of a model wellness policy. The reviewer recommends that the district consider adding as section encouraging and outlining staff health and wellness as well.
Amity School District takes the health and well-being of its students with the utmost care and concern. The district has met most of the goals noted in the Local Wellness Policy. The goals we continue to work toward can be met with minor changes.
