Credit Earned Outside the Regular School Program

By prior arrangement, credit may be earned outside the direct supervision of the parent school for enrichment, interest, or toward graduation. Such outside programs may include District summer school, evening school, and programs external to the School District. The responsibility for having results reported to the parent school by transcript or grade slip is that of the student. For the purpose of this statement, “Parent” school is defined to mean the school in which the student is enrolled and from which he or she intends to graduate. Work may be applied toward:

  1. Early graduation. Students who wish to work toward early graduation;
  2. Make-up Requirements. Requirements may be made up outside the regular school program in cases where students have failed a course, have transferred from another school where insufficient credits were earned, or to maintain a student’s position in a grade level appropriate with age or social group.

The following general guidelines apply to programs outside the regular program offered by the parent school:

  1. Credit for successful completion of work is granted by the parent school, not by the outside agency.
