Programs for Pregnant Students

The Amity School District advocates the right to continued public education for all pregnant girls. These young women have the right to continued schooling in regular school classes. In the event an individual pregnant student withdraws from her home school during pregnancy because of health reasons verified by her physician, the Amity School District alone, or in conjunction with other community institutions, shall furnish her with an opportunity to continue her classes.

Upon verification of pregnancy by an examination by a physician licensed by a Board of Medical Examiners, the district will determine eligibility for related services.

If a pregnant girl desires to participate in an extracurricular activity, the principal may require written authorization from her doctor.

All pregnant girls meeting Amity High School graduation standards are allowed to participate in graduation.
