Visitations and Conferences
The superintendent is authorized to direct personnel to attend professional meetings and conference when, in his/her judgment, such activities are in the best interest of the school system and are within budgetary allowances approved by the Board.
Representative teachers may attend professional conferences and meetings upon approval of their written request by the superintendent. The district will provide funds in its annual budget to defray some expenses of professional conference attendance by the staff. The administrative council shall evaluate each request submitted through the building principal as to its relevance and benefit to the Amity Schools. The level of financial reimbursement shall be indicated on each request.
If, in the opinion of the superintendent, it does not serve the best interest of the district to authorize a release from duties and/or reimbursement of expenses for such travel and conference attendance, such release and/or reimbursement may be denied. Release from duties may be granted, in some cases, without reimbursement or expenses and with the cost of the substitute to be deducted from the employee’s salary, or full deduction of salary when the business is not school approved.
Personnel attending any conference at the expense of the district shall present a complete report of conference activities when requested to do so.
